MINI EYELASH CURLER REVIEW 

    I love lashes! Especially when they are perfectly curled. Whether they are natural lashes or falsies the only way to get that perfect curl is with the perfect tool. I finally found one! This eyelash curler gives the perfect round shape to your lashes. I've come across many lash curlers that make lashes look like L's. Not cute! they have too much pressure between the lash and cushion and it makes them look less than natural and more like spider legs. 

   Lets talk about the sleek matte black aesthetic of this tool. I love black and even more when its a beauty tool. I'm sold on the color alone. :)

     A regular lash curler is not as precise as a mini curler. This one can get into the lashes that are left hanging on the outer part of the eye. It definitely looks better when all your lashes are curled nicely the same way. The Reveal Beauty Mini Lash Curler is also amazing on false lashes! It helps blend the falsies with the natural lashes and gives them that extra umph. Another trick to get your lashes looking right is by applying a light coat of mascara. Wait until it dries and gently curl with the Mini Lash curler. This will help your lashes stay in place!

The rounded cushion allows the lashes to curl in a rounded subtle shape. The packaging is simple and comes in a PVC plastic bag. This is brilliant considering I've lost almost every cushion on past curlers I've owned.

Few Fall Favs... & more!

  
        My favorite time of year is the fall/winter season. Not only because i get to spend a lot of time with my family, but because of the acceptable everyday makeup looks.

Every season calls for new Lip shade, of course! ;)  This year super dark colors are in!! Dark reds, dark purple and even dark nudes and browns. Even black!

Below are some of my favorite colors that range from berry hues to dark browns and a breakdown on how i combine a lip color with eyes and cheeks so it flows seamlessly.

A dark red lip is not hard to pull off if you know what colors to look for and what to pair it with. Let me start with a disclaimer: Wearing dark lipstick in public can give you lots of confidence to try other looks that you've been scared to try! ;) If you ever wanted to try a dark lip... This is the time to rock it!

**I am sure there's a lipstick that matches all these colors I've used exactly, but i like to mix to make my own. I always start with one color and if i don't like it i add another and so on. 20 shades later its perfect! haha.**

LOOK 1: One of my favorite looks!  Matte taupe crease, shimmer lid and a berry lip complimented by a soft plum rose cheek and lots and lots of lashes!

Skin: Elcie Cosmetics foundation which is a liquid base that dries to a velvety finish. This allows the skin to look fresh and natural without overpowering the pretty lip color.

Eyes: I used a taupe color from Makeup Designory for the crease and Dior shadow in Mirror for the lid, brow bone and inner corners of the eye. 

Cheeks: Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate I, Mac Gingerly with a swipe of Anastasia So Hollywood for that extra glow. I also swept a little on her crease.

Lashes: Ardell Individuals in Long and Medium

and FINALLY.....
Lips: I used Ben Nye Vino lip liner, Mac Rebel and Dose of Colors Dark Secrets.

 LOOK 2: Very similar to the above, but this lip is more wine than berry. The eyes are neutral with a smudged liner on top. Lashes and eyes are the main focus again.

Skin: Ashunta Sheriff Perfect Face duo foundation in Tan with Koh Gen Do moisture foundation 302.  

Eyes: Grey shadow all over the lid focusing on the crease. I added a liner on top and kept the bottom lash line clean.

Cheeks: Guerlain bronzer 07 as blush. This gives a warmth to the deeper skin tones minus the orange that a lot of bronzers have.

Lashes: Monda studio 110 lashes for length.

Ben Nye Lip Pencil color

Lips: Ben Nye vino lip pencil all over the lips with a bit of clear gloss on top. Vino is the only wine colored lip pencil i use 90% of the time. The other one is NYX plum. I pair these with any lipsticks with wine undertones.

 LOOK 3: Is a smoked out bronzed eye, natural lashes and a berry brown lip. This look can be worn during the day with a brown liner in the water line or at night with a black liner. The black liner will definitely make it look more dramatic, especially with a berry brown bold lip ( say that 10 times fast).

 Skin: To keep that luminous skin without too much shimmer i usually apply a liquid highlighter before foundation on the high points of the face. Josie Maran Illuminizer is one of my favorites. Also, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl. I used Nars Sheer glow in Stromboli on the left and Make Up Forever HD on the right. Both have similar finishes.

Eyes: Both of these looks can be easily achieved with Charllote Tilbury Dolce Vita quad. It has 4 distinctive colors perfect for a bronzy plum look.

Cheeks: Chanel Tan de Soleil is one of my kit staples. Although its not for all skin tones, i love the formula because i don't have to use too much powder. Or non at all! I apply it as a warm contour on cheeks temples and under the jaw. I also used Tantalizer by Lorac to add an extra bronze to the cheeks.

Lashes: Wispies or all individuals fit this look perfectly. You want the bronzed lid to shine through.

Lips: For this look i opted for a more berry brown to flow with the browns on the eyes. Mac Diva is the perfect shade. On the left i used the same color but deepened the lip line with a brown liner and added a clear gloss. It gives a completely different look. 

Glossy Skin - My top 5 favorite highlight/illuminating products!

 

       My favorite highlighters are not based on the color so much as the consistency.  I like my highlight/illuminating products finely milled and almost creamy. I stay away from those with chunks of glitter. Most of these i apply with my finger or a Glamour Sponge.

                                                1. First on my list is Jouer Cosmetics cream highlighter in Champagne

This is a beautiful finely milled cream rose gold color that goes on like a dream. The creaminess of this product is insane. Before lightly powdering the face I dab some with my finger tip on the high points of the face. Cheekbones, bridge of nose, cupids bow, chin and sometimes even forehead depending on the look. I've used this as a shadow too.  Aside from Champagne, Jouer cream highlight comes in Camellia (white pearl) and (gold). This comes in a small square compact that can connect with other Jouer products. Price is $22 with 2g of product. Well worth it too

RBR Sea of Sowers

2. My second favorite is not a cream or powder, but a liquid. Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Showers. It's a super silky also finely milled rose gold with a dash of pearl liquid. I like using this one mixed with a highlighting pen or as a primer on the high points of the face. It dries fast and won't move so you have to work fast with it. Its highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. This is a UK brand and cannot be found in store. You can order it online and if you're lucky enough to find it on the uk, you must try the other 3 colors too. Only downfall is the amount that dispenses when you pump it. Because a little goes a long way, it can be wasteful to over pump. Comes in a   glass frosty bottle with a pump. The price is $50 for 1.01oz.

Soleil Tan De Chanel

3. Next on my list is Soleil tan de Chanel Sheer illuminating fluid. It's a liquid as well. Although it's not as pigmented as the RBR I mentioned above. It comes in one color. I love this for a subtle glow. Mixed with foundation or even on top. It has a rosy champagne gold to it and the consistency is a bit runny. For the price I do think it's something everyone needs in their kit. Especially for a subtle dewy look.  Comes in a glass bottle. Price is $48 for 1oz

BECCA Opal

 4. Now to a powder. I'm sure this one is a favorite amongst many makeup artist or even woman who love a glow alone. Becca cosmetics luminous compact in Opal. This beautiful rose gold color has very finely milled pearl shimmer that makes the light reflect ridiculously pretty.  Dusted on the cheek bone with a fan brush the bridge of the nose Cupid's bow. Or you can apply it with your fingers. The consistency makes it easy to blend as though it were a cream. This is by far my favorite formula in a powder form. Price $38. .28 oz

5. Another powder highlight i like is from NARS. Its the Dual Intensity blush duo in Frenzy. The highlight side on the left is a very pretty champagne tone. It also has a creamy feel to it which allows it to go on smoothly. It can also be used wet for a more intense application. I use it with a synthetic brush either alone or as a topper over the cream highlight. The price is a bit high for .21oz of product, but i have yet to find something that's comparable. I am hoping NARS comes out with single dual intensity highlighters. Price is $45 for .21oz.



I can sit here an name so many more highlighters since my collection has a vast variety of them. These are my top 5 that i use more often. They are all very versatile and can be used in numerous ways. I would say that for the most part all of them are good on all skin tones if used correctly. Jouer has the light pearl cream that's perfect for light/pale skin complexions. They also have a gold tone that's great on darker skin. RBR and Chanel can definitely be used on all skin tones under or mixed with foundation. Becca pearl and Nars Frenzy i would use for medium to dark.

Orange you glad it's not Red!?!

           For many years red lipstick has been a staple in every woman's makeup bag. Although, i love me a good red lip, this summer i have came across a more appealing color. I have not only used this color alone, but i mix it with red to create the perfect red/orange hue. I've used it on many of my clients and this is one of my favorite looks.

Remember that sometimes Less is More. 

Base: I used Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Stromboli..

Eyes: I started with bronzed color and applied it all over her lid. I then used a champagne shimmer highlight for the brow bone and inner corner. I used the same bronze color to define the lower lash line and smoke it out. For the water line i used a brown pencil, added some natural lashes and added lots of mascara.

Cheeks:  For her cheeks i used a peach tone blush to keep it natural. My favorite right now is Edward Bess Monte Carlo quad

Lips: Last but not least i used an orange lipstick to complete this look. My favorite orange is

Bronzer and Blush in 3 Steps!!

Bronzer can be very tricky, but with the right technique you will have it down in no time! Remember that just like everything that we learn in life, Practice Makes Perfect!! 

What you will need: 

*Matte Bronzer in 2 shade darker than your skin tone. (preferably with a orange or yellow undertone)

Perfect colors:

MAC Bronzing Powder-Bare shouldered bronze

or

NARS-Casino

*Blush in a light pink or coral color. 
Perfect colors:

NARS-Orgasm (for a slight shimmer effect)

or

NYX Peach (matte)

Step One: Find your cheekbone. There is a trick to this and it is very simple. Grab your blush brush against your face starting at the center of the ear and placing the brush diagonal towards the corner of the lip.

Step Two: Grab a brush that has a slant to it.  This will make it easier to apply. Once you have your brush dab it into the bronzer. (Don’t be afraid of getting too much on the brush). Swipe the brush down your cheekbone ending before the apple of your cheek. 

Step Three: Using another blush brush or clean the one you just used, dab it into the blush. Place the brush right on the apples of the cheek. (Smile to see where to find your apples). In a circular motion blend the blush on the cheek until you see the color and then blend towards the bronzer.

I had the opportunity to work with Kylie Jenner recently. It was a pleasure to work with her and alot of fun. Since she is 13, i had to keep the make up to a minimum but she still looked fabulous. The wonderful and talented Monica Rose was styling and hairstylist Alon Shalom. Here are just a few BTS and images of the shoot.

Mascara!

Say No to Tarantula eyes!!!!! lol... remember that commercial?! ;) Lashes are a big deal when it comes to makeup.. you have to make sure the lashes are on point so your eyes stand out even more after the eyeshadow, the liner and all that eye makeup.. the main thing to focus on is length and volume. To achieve this you must make sure your eyelashes are properly curled, and the mascara is the right one for you.

Eyelash curler: A spoon (yes, you can curl your lashes with a spoon but that's a whole different post.. lol ) , Shiseido or Shu Eumura are the best.. not only do they wrap around perfectly on the eyelid, they also have a strong grip to get the perfect curl on the eyelashes. When you curl you place the eyelash curler right on the rim of the lash line.. give it one strong squeeze and slowly while squeezing on and off with the curler pull outwards towards the sky... ;)

Mascara: There are two that i truly LOVE!! Bad Gal Lash by Benefit and Lash Injection by Too Faced.. Both have the big brush that will help with volume.. although the consistency of both are very similar, Lash Injection is waterproof. When applying mascara.. remember to coat every lash.. trust me.. it makes a difference. Start at the lash line from under the lashes by wiggling the brush side to side to separate the lashes. Once you have mascara on the lashes along the lash line, you can pull out with the brush all the way to the end of the lash. **you can put on as many coats as desired .. i prefer a few for a fuller look** let the first coat dry before applying more. Put less mascara on the bottom lashes to open up the eyes even more.

If necessary use a lash comb to remove any clumps of mascara.

Lashes make a HUGE difference on the eye.. it not only makes your eye makeup stand out more but it also opens the eyes up!! soooo Lash Out!! ;)

Randomness Makeup Tips...

Helllo Makeup Lovers... so i figured i would do this post kinda different.. i asked for topics and i got them alright... lol.. so lets start with:


Brushes: When puchasing brushes the first thing you want to look at are the bristles. Depending what you are using them for, brushes should range from soft to a little stiff.

Don't break your head trying to figure out what brush is perfect for what.. most of the time they are labeled.. Brushes are an investment.. when taken care of properly they will last for many years.. the good ones will not lose bristles on the face or when you clean them with brush cleaner.. sooooo don't be too cheap... its probably the most you will spend when it comes to makeup. http://www.mudshop.com/ has excellent brushes and for more cost affordable ones http://www.mondastudio.com/ Not as good but will work.

Foundation: During the Fall and Winter season we all tend to lose color... unless you like to do the tanning bed thing.. but now a days its just a little too expensive for all that... Foundation can be a little hard to pick out depending on the undertone of your face. Most of us have a yellow undertone. Meaning that your foundation should have yellow tone to it in order to match your face. For darker skin tones undertones may vary from orange to red. Match the color to your neck.. never your hand or cheek.. you want an even face not a two tone one! ;/


Foundation should be 1/2 a shade darker than your natural skin tone. This is because our faces are in most cases a little lighter than our bodies. You should always have two different color foundations. One for the Spring/Summer (when the sun is out more) and one for the Fall/Winter (when the sun is out less).

*A powder to set the make up can also change the color of the foundation.

It should be of the same brand. This will allow you to mix the two when needed. I use MUD cream foundations which are easy to blend and mix together. A little goes LOOONG way... I also recommend Make Up Forever HD foundation for everyday use. Its light and its liquid.

The Classic Smokey Eye!

Before i start this short blog.... Remember that it's just makeup and it can be removed and re-applied as many times as you want. Soooo, if you mess up.... don't get frustrated.. cause you can do it Allll over again.. =)





Ok, Let's begin...



The Classic Smokey Eye!











Tools needed:

• Dark Brown shadow


• Black shadow


• Black eyeliner


• Nude or white shadow


• 2 Small Shadow brush


• Small Crease Blending Brush


• Small Tip Smudge brush

Before applying anything make sure you have applied and set foundation on the eyelid. Now that you know how to achieve The Perfect Eyebrow its time for a Classic Smokey Eye. Start by applying a Nude eyeshadow along the brow bone (under eyebrow) only! do not go below your crease. Use the Small Shadow Brush. And then..... LOL ok sorry had a moment... Next, along the crease use the Brown shadow with the Crease Brush and go back and forth on the crease only!! and blend up.. Then, use the Black shadow and apply it with one of the Shadow brushes all over the lid covering the lid completely. When you are finished grab the Crease brush used for the brown and blend! blend! blend! make sure you Blend the brown and black. Apply black eyeliner inside the water line and a thin line on the bottom eyelid. Use the Small Smudge brush with black shadow and apply along the bottom lid over the black liner. Using the same brush with brown shadow this time do the same but blend out to create the smokey effect. you can apply black eyeliner on the lash line also. Don't forget your mascara and Whalaaa!! The Classic Smokey Eye!!!!

Shading in Eyebrows!

Practice makes perfect! Keep this in mind after reading this entry.. Eyebrow Shading can be a lil tricky but, after having your eyebrows nicely shaped it shouldn't be too hard.. So before going forward make sure you read my blog on The Perfect Eyebrows!

Tools you will need:


*Angled brow brush-Japonesque has a great one.
Japonesque travel eyebrow brush

*Eyebrow gel from MakeUp Forever

*Powder filler-this can be a brown or taupe eyeshadow or an actual filler like Browzing from Benefit in light (for both dark or light hair).


*Brown (for dark hair) or Taupe (for light hair) -i use Rich Brown or Taupe by MUD

*Your foundation and a small concealer brush.

Steps

Start by brushing your eyebrows so the hairs are all brushed evenly.


Begin with the powder and start from Line D (see diagram in previous post).

Follow the shape of your eyebrow applying a little below and above your natural eyebrow shape.


As you apply keep in mind the Classic Eyebrow that you are trying to achieve.. Yes, a stencil sounds great right about now..but what if you don't have that darn stencil one day!? lol..


You will notice that there are places above and below the eyebrow that don't have hairs.. No need to panic! this is when you pull out that Eye Pencil.


Steadily and using little strokes apply the pencil lightly to the places where you don't have hair. From Line D to Line E and ending at Line F. This technique will help you get the shape you want.

At this point if your eyebrows are looking a mess! DO NOT WORRY! Now it's clean up time.. ;)


Take your concealer brush and dab it in a lil foundation. Go around the shape of your eyebrow if needed and use the foundation to clean up and define the shape you want. Some eyebrows will not need this step.


Remember its just make up and it can all come off and be re-applied!!

Nude Lip Shade!

Before getting into this mini lip shade blog.. Let me just say that there is NOT one right shade for you! Remember that with make up everything can be blended and mixed.. especially lip color. Here is my favorite nude lip color and how you can get the shade..



*Nude-

Lip Liner-use a liner that is one shade lighter than your natural lip color. Ben Nye's Caramel Rose (If you're in LA, Nigel's or Frend's in North Hollywood carries it) or Mac's Subculture matches most natural lip colors. Line your lips and also fill
in lips with lip pencil.


Lipstick-It's always best to use a lip brush when applying lipstick. Or you can use your finger tip to dab it on (make sure you sanitize your hands.. Germs are everywhere and you don't want them in your mouth;) ). A good color to start off with it is Sandy Beach from MUD http://shop.mudshop.com/sandy-beach (the color shown on site looks much darker). Top it off by dabbing your lips with Freckletone (neutral peach/lustre) from MAC.


Gloss- You can do clear to keep the color or use a peachy gloss like Pink Lemonade from MAC for a peachy nude.

Don't be afraid to mix lipsticks together it's the only way to get your lip color to the exact shade you are looking for. Have fun and customize your own lip color. Annnd ....

The Perfect Eyebrows!

     To many, eyebrows are just 2 hairy lil annoying things posted above our eyes...lol.. To me, eyebrows are the 2 most important thing on your face... they not only shape your face but can be transformed and cutomized to fit whatever look you are looking for... there are many ways to groom those bad boys... waxing.. .threading... or tweezing... i prefer tweezing... because you have more control over the shape you are trying to achieve.. although it takes longer... sometimes in order to perfect something you must wait for it!


Steps to achieving Perfect Eyebrows By Tweezing Them Yourself:


1. Make sure you have a good pair of tweezers. Tweezwerman tweezers are great!

2. The idea is to achieve the Classic Eyebrow **--->

(4 Key Things To Know)

1. The brow starts (line D) a little bit in towards the center of your face from the corner of your eye. It ends at line F, which is roughly a 45 degree angle that starts at the brow beginning and runs alongside the outside edge of your eye. Use your brush to estimate this.
2. The bottom of the brow (line B) is at the same height as the top of your eyelid. Both ends of the brow should be at roughly the same height, with the tail end perhaps a little higher.
3. Your eyebrow’s arch (line E) should be in line with the outside of your iris (the colored part of your eye) when you’re looking straight ahead.
4. Your brow height (line B to line C) should be about the same height as from the top of your eyelid to the bottom half of your iris (line A to line B). Another way to look at this is while looking straight ahead with your eyes open normally, the height of your eyelid should be about half the height of your eyebrow.

**Although everyones eyebrows will not look like this there are other ways to get this shape (shading with pencil, or powder).


3. Tweeze one hair at a time. Don't get carried away and start tweezing hairs that are just frustrating you.


4. As you tweeze brush hairs up so you can see the brow line.


5. Remember that your eyebrows are sisters not twins. ;) When shaping DO NOT try to make them identical!! Thats when shading comes in.
